In April 2020, we conducted a study to learn more about the mental model of viewers on how they decide where to spend their time and attention on Twitch, and what barriers prevent them from investing more time on our platform.
A key takeaway was that viewers need more time to “prepare” for when a streamer goes live. This product was launched to help viewers by letting them schedule a reminder ahead of time for specific streams.

Scheduling a Reminder
Viewers have the ability to schedule reminders ahead of time for streams that they are interested in. They have the ability to select when they’d like to be reminded as well as through which platform.

New User Awareness
Scheduled Reminders was introduced primarily for frequent users of Twitch, but this problem isn’t limited to that user base. By surfacing this feature on transitional surface areas such as login, we are also increasing awareness for potential new users.
